Achalpur is famous for the capital of Imadshahi… It contains so many historical places as well as monuments. One of the most important monument  is HAUJ KATORA a mile away from the town .
  It is built by Allauddin Imadshaha. (Ref.1)
  It is located in the north- west direction & 4 kms away from Achalpur. The area where this monument is located is described as ‘Buraka’.

 Actually it is a octangal MINAR. It had 5 Floors. But now only 3 are remained. It is as  similar  as The Tomb of Salabat Khan at Ahmednagar which is wrongly described as Chandbibi Mahal. 

 Hauj Katora is built with sand,bricks, Kharap (trench) & Limestone. There is an artificial Iake created & in the middle of the lake the monument get created. (Ref. 2) The diameter of  this building is 91 Meter i.e. 100 Yards. The height of each floor is 4.572 Meter i.e.15 feet. 

The water was supplied by a Nahar (Canal) from Dev Lake of Gawilgad. It was also supplied to Navbagh & TufalKhan’s Mahal in Dabirpura. (Ref.3).. There  were so many flowers & types  of lotus in  the lake around the monument. Hauj Kator a contains so many Chaukes, Air Conditioned Rooms & Maherabs (Ref.4). It is having beautiful carvings. It was having Minars at the time of Akbar.

  It contains 8 Arches & doors. There was a pillar which was 81 feet high where the other Minars were located. It was also having an underground bunker. The building Contains beautiful doors with Maharab & decorated with the beautiful pictures. (Ref.5).

 The inscription on the Minar is having the meaningful words which means , ‘jamadi all awl 1199 Hijari Nawab Ali kh.av & Nawab  jafaruddola Bahadur Iteshamjang came here with Nabab Ibrahim Khan (Ref.6) Now it  is destroyed. It is said that Nabab used to come here with his wife in Summer. Therefore it is also called as ‘Jal Vihar Mandir’
    It is said that the monument had 6 floors. Out of which 2 floors Nabab took with him to build his Mahal. Thus he decreased the pressure of the monument. It is also said that this particular monument is having somewhat contact with Sat Budkhi (Seven Wells) near Achaalpur.
    Now the age of the monument is 600 years. But the archaeological department has no time to pay attention.
